Private Number Plates Popular at the Golf Club

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

You would be amazed at just how popular private number plates are among golfers. It’s the same across the country from St Andrews to Wentworth. Only the other day I was at my club an there was an array of private number plates in the car park.

It’s true to say there were the dateless historical number plates on display as well as a few car registration numbers relating to names. The golf number plates I thought were particularly impressive were ones containing PUT, TEE or 6 OLF. It’s not the first time I have seen golf related private number plates, I have noticed them around for a number of years. I think the best one I have ever seen was a couple of years ago T33 OFF “Tee Off”.

There are plenty of shrewd people that play golf and no doubt they have identified the real investment opportunity private number plates can offer. In the current economical climate, really good investment opportunities are hard to find.

Irish Number Plates Cheap Private Number Plates

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

It’s surprising how many cars these days have cherished number plates. If you have ever considered having a private number plate you will have noticed how expensive some registration numbers can be. Dateless number plates containing I’s & Z’s come from Northern Ireland. These Irish number plates can offer exceptional value in comparison to the mainland UK dateless number plates.

Historic mainland UK number plates can be several hundred or more often than not several thousands of pounds more. The irish number plates start from well bellow one hundred pounds. In fact you could get something really special for a thousand or so. It’s no wonder the rising popularity of the irish number plates amongst motorists in the UK mainland is increasing.

I often see Mercedes cars sporting the irish number plates MBZ they look really good and again they are pretty good value. You may even say better value than the vehicle they are on. We all know that a motor vehicle is one of the most expensive purchases. Very rarely do we sell the car for the same or more than we paid for it. This is not true of the other major purchases we are likely to make i.e. property. Private number plates including irish number plates tend to increase in value making them a thoroughly enjoyable investment.

Private Number Plates Within Reach

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

These days you see more and more vehicles sporting private number plates. Is it because folks have more disposable income to purchase luxury items like private number plates? Probably not over the last couple of years with the pain and uncertainty of the credit crunch.

In days gone by private number plates were the preserve of the rich and famous. The good news is this is no longer the case, personalised car registration numbers are now within reach for the vast majority of the population.

Does that mean private number plates have come down in value? Hell no, in fact if anything the reverse is true. Even through the worst economic downturn for generations car registration numbers have continued to out perform most investments.

It’s true that you can spend thousands, even hundreds of thousand of pounds on cherished number plates and for the very oldest, most sought after private number plates thats the level of investment you need to be prepared for. The good news however is you can replace your dvla number plate from a random meaningless combination to something more personal from just a couple of hundred pounds.

Sunday, June 27th, 2010

For some people, the car is only half the story. DVLA number plates complete the look, and if the number plate on your car when you buy it doesn’t mean anything to you, you can soon swap it out for another one if you are prepared to buy it.

There are plenty of websites online that you can visit for more information about personalised DVLA number plates. Searching for these number plates online is also easier than trying to get hold of them in any other way. It is much easier to see exactly what is available.

Try looking for specific pieces of information – the first letter of the number plate for example, perhaps followed by a particular number and then three more letters. Depending on how specific you want to be you can either look for a plate that is very exact or which only has a few letters you really want.

For instance you might want to buy some DVLA number plates that end in the word ‘MOO’ if that happens to be your nickname. In this case you might be happy for the plate to start with any other combination of letters and numbers.

Whatever combination you start looking for, the results you get online could reveal it is no longer available. If this is the case, think about what else you could get instead. Many of these will be very similar to the DVLA number plates you were looking for originally, so bear this in mind.

In any event, with some perseverance you could soon have the plates you really wanted.

What Do Irish Number Plates Look Like?

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

Unless you live in Northern Ireland you may not be aware of what Irish number plates look like. They are different to ordinary UK ones, because the pattern they use is very different.

The DVA (Driver and Vehicle Agency) formerly the DVLNI (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Northern Ireland) is responsible for issuing all Irish number plates. One of the main differences between Irish number plates and those from the UK is that Irish ones are not identifiable by a date. They will still have numbers included in the plate, but they will not reference any particular year.

It is quite easy to tell if you spot some Irish number plates. They will always begin or end with a sequence of two or three letters. There could be anything from one to four numbers. In addition to this you will spot the letters I & Z in an Irish registration. They are allowed on these plates whereas you won’t see them on the dateless UK plates.

The good news is that you don’t have to drive an Irish car in Ireland to have Irish number plates on your car. Provided they are transferred properly they can be used on any car in the UK. In fact a lot of UK drivers like Irish number plates because of the fact they have no year on them. People cannot therefore tell whether the car you are driving is a year old or much older than that.

You can also get Irish plates which can be personalised in nature, so you see there are lots of benefits to having them.
