The DVLA are introducing changes to the process of assigning a vehicle registration mark to a vehicle not registered to the grantee. Under the current rules if a private number plate is on number plate Retention Certificate, V778, or is on a Certificate of Entitlement, V750, the certificate Nominee has to be added at the DVLA’s head office in Swansea and returned, before the registration number can be assigned to a vehicle registered to anyone other than the grantee. This process can take several weeks and will hold up the sale of a personal number plate held on certificate. Under the new rules the nominee will be able to be added or changed at the point of assignment at the local DVLA office, thus speeding up the process.
